Directory Opus 11 is now available!

GPSoftware are pleased to announce the release of Directory Opus 11!

Three years after the release of Directory Opus 10, following an extremely successful public beta program, we are happy to announce that Directory Opus 11 is now available for purchase.

Generous discounts are available for existing users of Directory Opus when you upgrade to Opus 11 - and remember that you can add extra licenses when you upgrade and get the same discount on the additional licenses.

Please Note: If you have been using a beta version of Opus 11 it is important that you download the release version using the link above. You should not use the auto-update check in the program itself, as this will download Opus 10 instead.

Upgrades and licensing:
  • Registered Directory Opus 10 users can upgrade from as little as $50 AUD (~$45 USD, £27, €33).
  • If you bought Opus after 1st December 2013 then the update is completely free!
  • Users of older versions still qualify for discounted upgrades - visit the Upgrade page for a personalised quotation.
  • An extra discount will be given to Opus 10 users who were part of the public beta testing program - thank you all for your participation!
Just some of the highlights of Directory Opus 11 are:
  • The new scripting interface allows custom commands and scripts written in VBScript, JScript, etc to infinitely extend Opus
  • Toolbars can be saved in layouts and styles - different Listers can now use different toolbars
  • Toolbars can turn on or off automatically in specific folders or view modes
  • Enhanced hotkeys allow for multi-key sequences and multiple different keys for the same function
  • Dynamic toolbar button icons and highlighting allow you more control over your toolbar appearance
  • The new File Display Toolbar replaces the main Location toolbar, saving vertical space in the Lister
  • The new Jobs Bar lets you see and manage all file operations from one central location
  • Hide progress indicators by default, and remove them from the taskbar and Alt+Tab list to avoid interruptions to your workflow
  • New Details + Thumbnails mode combines the best of both modes
  • New "ghost" crumbs in the Breadcrumbs location field let you see where you have been as well as where you are now
  • Dual status bars let you see file and selection statistics for both file displays at once
  • Improvements to the Find-as-you-type field include search highlighting and command history
  • New options for the Folder Tree including root-level spacing and Favorites branch at the top of the tree as in Explorer
  • Integrated support for Windows 8.1 SkyDrive (OneDrive)
  • Much, much more!
For a detailed list of changes, please see the What's New page.

Quick video: Scripting Opus 11 to be a music launcher

The new scripting capabilities in Directory Opus 11 open up lots of new possibilities, and there are already a few scripts at the forum from people who are trying the public beta.

One of the scripts you can find there is my one to turn Opus into a better music launcher (for people who still listen to albums :)).

To help explain this script, and as a quick demonstration of something you can do with scripting in Opus 11, I made this short video:

The forum post about the script has more details.

Here are some other Opus 11 scripts at the forum:

You'll also find more scripting examples in various Help & Support threads, often to solve esoteric problems (which scripting is great at!) but which don't always seem worth showcasing in the separate scripting area.

    Directory Opus 11 Public Beta

GP Software are proud to announce that a public Beta of Directory Opus 11 is now available for all interested Opus 10 users.

We are still several months away from finishing Opus 11 and this is very much pre-release software, with lots of untested changes. The release date and pricing (beyond what's mentioned below) are yet to be decided.

Before installing the Beta please note the following conditions:

    • This is a preliminary, beta release. Translations may not be fully up-to-date and some English text may appear in non-English versions. Use at your own risk!
    • Other than the change notes, the help file/manual has not yet been updated; this will be done progressively over the Beta period. Feel free to ask on the forum for help with any particular features. A basic reference for the new scripting interface is available here.
    • You should make a backup of your Opus 10 configuration before installing the Beta.
    • A time-limited certificate will be issued free of charge for the duration of the Beta period; however, when the certificate expires you will need to purchase the Opus 11 upgrade or revert to Opus 10.
    • Opus 11 will be a paid upgrade (free if you purchased Opus 10 on or after December 1, 2013).

Registered and evaluation users of Opus 10 can obtain their certificate for the Beta here.

Please report any problems you encounter with the Beta (or other feedback) on the forum as usual.

    Directory Opus 10.5.3.3 (Beta)

Directory Opus 10.5.3.3 beta is now available for all Opus 10 users.

    32-bit version:    Universal    Deutsch    简化字
    64-bit version:    Universal    Deutsch    简化字

This is a preliminary, beta release. Translations may not be fully up-to-date and some English text may appear in non-English versions.

The following is a guide to the changes in the Directory Opus 10.5.3.3 beta:

    Enhancements

    • Added a new option - Preferences / Miscellaneous / Advanced: show_release_history - which allows you to prevent the release history from appearing the first time you use a new version.

    Bug fixes

    • Fixed inline rename oddity where pressing Shift+Home would leave the caret selection at the end of the selection range rather than the beginning.
    • Fixed the SmartFavorites list showing the same path more than once.
    • Fixed the SmartFavorites list showing multiple entries for virtual folders like Desktop.
    • SmartFavorites now ignores MTP and FTP paths, as well as virtual folders which would not be suitable for creating a shortcut.
    • Fixed SmartFavorites not checking existence of library and collection paths at startup when configured to.
    • Fixed "Save As" from the viewer not working (potentially even crashing) for images on MTP devices.
    • You can now use the Go command's EXISTINGLISTER argument with other arguments which generate a list of drives or folders, e.g. Go DRIVEBUTTONS EXISTINGLISTER.
    • Fixed tab lock (if set) being inherited from the default Lister when a new window opens for a double-clicked folder and Opus is configured to just open a tab for the folder without the default Lister's other tab(s).
    • Fixed file display becoming unusable if a locked folder tab showed a directory which was then deleted.
    • Fixed bug that stopped dimensions being shown for images in thumbnails mode if their thumbnails came from the cache.
