Directory Opus 10.1.0.0 is now available as a free update for all Directory Opus 10 users.
Evaluation period reset:
- If you have been test-driving Directory Opus 10.0 and your 60-day evaluation has run out, you can request a new 60-day evaluation for Directory Opus 10.1 to see what's new.
- If you're currently using an Opus 10.0 evaluation certificate then you'll need a new 10.1 evaluation certificate as the old eval cert won't work with the new version (it will say the old cert has expired). You'll get a full 60-day period from the new cert.
- If you've purchased Opus 10.0 then you don't need to do anything. Your existing certificate will continue to work with all 10.x versions and never expires.
- You can download the update via the GPSoftware website, or use Check For Program Updates in the program's Help menu.
- If you use the German (Deutsch) version of Opus, go to Haage & Partner's downloads page for the program update, Help file and additional resources translated into German. (For all other languages, use GPSoftware's site.)
The update also includes the following new change:
- It was not possible to adjust times by a negative number of minutes (less than one hour) using the SetAttr META command.

The new Directory Opus 10.1.0.0 is extremely slow in copying/sync'g files comparing to the older versions.
Restoring the older version 10.0.5.0 and 10.0.1.0 corrected the slow data transfer issues between HDDs (Tested with several SATA HDDs and different i7 computers).
@Anonymous:
Try setting Preferences / Miscellaneous / Advanced: copy_nonbufferio_threshold to 0 (zero).
That will disable the non-buffered I/O mode which was introduced recently and is about the only recent change that might affect file copy speed.
If that doesn't help (or if you want to get to the bottom of exactly what was going on), please start a thread on our tech-support forum and provide details of what was being copied (large files? small files? between which types of folders? etc.).
If anyone else is seeing similar issues then they will be able to find the thread and add their findings, so we can see if there are any similarities. So far we have not had any similar reports, however.
Your anti-virus software or the type of drives may also be a factor (e.g. if the drives are mis-reporting sector sizes, or if the anti-virus software does not correctly handle non-buffered I/O).
